1:47Now PlayingREXBURG -- VO: Riddles … Mind games … and a countdown timer. The Escape House is Rexburg’s hot new year-round attraction.
SOT: “Definitely don’t go in there thinking it’s going to be easy, or something that you can do within 10 minutes. It’s going to be very hard,” Mickelsen said
VO: The Escape house features three rooms filled with a series of puzzles and to be solved before the 60-minute timer runs out.
SOT: “You have to achieve one plot which leads to another plot, then another one, maybe four or five, then you have the finale. For example that first room Michaels room, you deactivate the bomb at the very end” Mickelsen said.
VO: Game monitors watch players to see if or when they get stuck, but they do what they can to help players solve the escape.
SOT: “We can tell when people are stumped. It’s funny what people do when they’re stumped, so we’ll send them a clue to get their minds back on track,” Mickelsen says.
VO: Mickelsen says the ideas for these detailed puzzles don’t come from anywhere in particular.
SOT: “Just pulling it out of the air I guess. We think of a situation that maybe people have never done. There’s just situations that someone might dream of doing or one that their imagination might spark up,” Mickelsen said.
VO: By the end players are relieved when they finally make it out.
SOT: "It was a ton of fun, it was really tough it was really hard,” Player David Johanson said.
SOT: “You’re going to leave here getting along with each other better, building relationships, it’s a great team building activity,” Mickelsen said.
VO: The Escape House costs $10 per person. To book a room go to theescapehouse.com. Reporting from Rexburg, I’m Natalia Hepworth, EastIdahoNews.com
