1:29Now PlayingIDAHO FALLS -VO: When customers walk into Smitty’s Pancake and Steak House they’re usually taken back by the old paintings and antique décor on the walls. But, they still manage to draw big crowds everyday because of their unique recipes.
SOT: “I would probably recommend the pancakes. They have one of the nicest breakfasts in town. Probably in the valley,” Jarrod Clifford said.
VO: Along with that Smitty’s Baby Dutch German pancakes, or their potato pancake are running favorites. The potato pancake has potato chunks mixed right into the batter.
SOT: “Our pancakes are our secret family recipe. We do a little bit of the mixing part, the dry part. Just the family only knows that secret. Our steaks are hand cut in house,” Co-owner Katrina Lott says.
VO: Lott says other than their signature buttermilk pancakes customers love the chicken fried steak, or their fried chicken.
SOT: “(I like the) chicken snacks and a salad, and I love their ranch,” customer Michelle Harris said.
VO: Today I wanted to try something a little different so I went for one of Smitty’s specialties, the potato pancake.
Stand up: Today I’m going to try the potato pancakes, which has actual potato in the mix. If you want to try something more traditional you can go for their buttermilk pancakes.
VO: Lott says Smitty’s sticks to their saying – Everybody’s Favorite. She says quality is top priority in their meals.
SOT: “That’s what sets Smitty’s apart from everybody else in this valley, the food’s homemade. I mean it’s prepared while you wait. It doesn’t get any better than that,” Jarrod Clifford said.
VO: In Idaho Falls, I’m Natalia Hepworth, EastIdahoNews.com.
