1:57Now PlayingIDAHO FALLS — STAND UP: I’m Natalia Hepworth with EastIdahoNews.com and a local family reached out to us after saying they were forced to chase a this man out of there home on Saturday night.
SOT: When I was chasing him I’m like, ‘Why didn’t we just tackle him or tase him in the first place?’” 12-year-old victim Marcus McOmber said.
VO: 30-year-old Jose Rodriguez-Sandoval ran to Sunnyside Acres after Allegedly getting into a fight at the Blue Wave on Saturday night. He fled the scene and ended up at Richard Bierma Jr.’s back door.
SOT: “At 11:30 p.m. we heard a big banging on the back door. I realized a Hispanic gentleman was coming through my back door and was moving my bookshelf,” victim Richard Bierma Jr. said.
SOT: “I put my hand on him and I told him ‘You don’t live here you need to get out of here,’” Richard Beirma said.
VO: Beirma says following the confrontation Rogriguez became physical.
SOT: “I took both my hands, and I shoved him off backwards off my back porch. I told my fiancé to call 911,” Beirma said.
VO: After that Rodriguez-Sandoval took off running to nearby homes. Bierma and his 12-year-old son Marcus ran after him.
SOT: “My son and I went out the front door and started a foot chase with him. He pretty much went through all the neighbors’ houses. He tried getting in my mother-in-law’s house and my neighbor’s house across the street,” Bierma said.
VO: Officers arrived and arrested Rodriguez-Sandoval who they found in a nearby shed.
SOT: “I was right on him and I was ready to tackle him when the cops were screaming at us to stop and freeze. We had to stop dead in our tracks and freeze and tell them that it wasn’t us it was the guy,” Bierma said.
VO: He was charged with felony aggravated assault, misdemeanor unlawful entry, leaving the scene of an accident, and driving without privileges.
