9:21Now PlayingIDAHO FALLS -- The U.S Department of Energy announced an investment of $82 million in nuclear energy research technology development Tuesday.
U.S. Secretary of Energy Ernest Moniz made the announcement in Idaho Falls during a news conference held at the Idaho National Laboratory.
About $5.5 million of that money will go to find research in the Gem State at INL and local universities.
The rest of the money will go to fund projects in 27 other states, according to a DEO news release. In total 93 projects were selected to receive funding to help push innovative nuclear technology toward commercialization and into the market.
