as posted by the channelIDAHO FALLS — Junior zoo keepers take a step past the tradition zoo experience and find out first hand what it takes to care for zoo animals.
“They are preparing diets for the animals, and they learning how to keep logs on animal behaviors.” Idaho Falls Zoo Education Curator Sunny Katseanes tells EastIdahoNews.com “The kids learn what a zoo keeper actually does, they learn to appreciate all the tasks that go into keeping these animals healthy.”
The Idaho Falls Zoo offers serval class experiences. They have one-day classes that focus on animals like alligators, primates, bears, and big cats. Classes like “The Hungry Games” teaches kids that everybody’s somebody’s lunch and where they might fit in?
They also offer a week-long summer camp that allows kids to spend time up-close with the animals. Each day of camp the children are taught through activities, crafts, and animal interactions.
“It promotes a connective-ness with nature and the kids.” Katseanes said “It helps give an understanding to the natural world.”
