East Idaho Eats: Aunt Annie's Kitchen

STAND UP: I’m Natalia Hepworth in Ammon at Aunt Annie’s Kitchen, and whether it’s gourmet popcorn or fudge workers at Aunt Annie’s are always cooking up a treat.

SOT: “Pretty much everyday we’re cooking something, and everything is made here from scratch. We use our own recipes,”

VO: Aunt Annie's Kitchen, named after no one in particular offers over 50 different popcorn flavors.

SOT: “Right now I’ve got 68 flavors of popcorn, and usually 16 to 18 (flavors of) fudge," manager Justin Crook says.

VO: The display tubs behind manager Justin Crook holds up to 10 gallons of popcorn.

SOT: “That’s just my smaller display one. The bigger white ones will hold about 20 gallons,” Crook says.

VO: Crook says on an average day he makes between four and 12 types of popcorn. One particular flavor is a best seller in both the popcorn and the fudge.

SOT: “Caramel sea salt for both the fudge and the popcorn, they’re the best sellers and there’s probably a good reason for that,” Crook says.

VO: After gaining some experience at Aunt Annie’s workers start to get more creative. Popcorn makers have been working on launching a new flavor-- kettle corn with caramel and milk chocolate drizzled over top.

SOT: "We started producing. It doesn’t have a name yet,” Crook said.

VO: Crook says he's had a great response from the community and has even had flavor suggestions, like dill pickle and real cheddar popcorn combined.

SOT: "Mix them together and it tastes an awful lot like a McDonalds cheese burger," Crook says.
