1:31Now PlayingBONNEVILLE County-- STANDUP – I’m Natalia Hepworth here in Bonneville County and it’s roads like North 45th East that have neighbors concerned. In fact a local 18-year-old boy lost control of his car and landed in this ditch.
SOT: “When it happened to him, it really concerned me,” Tammi Andrus says.
VO: Luckily Sam Andrus wasn’t hurt and his car only received minor damage...but the teen says he isn’t the only one to slide of this road into the nearby canal.
SOT: “I think in the last 3 or 4 days I’ve seen at least eight cars go off… that I know of,” Sam Andrus says.
VO: The Andrus’s and their neighbors wonder if recent accidents are because of the drivers or if the county roads are being neglected?
We went to the County Road and Bridge Department for answers....
SOT: “People just need to realize the roads are slick and slow down. That’s winter driving,” Road supervisor for the Bonneville County Road and Bridge Department, Ken Ray says.
Crews have around 700 miles of roads to plow and until they get to your street, you should:
1. Slow down.
As for the Andrus's street, a sand truck has been sent out to help with the slickness and crews have begun working through compact layers of ice and snow on the roads.
