1:32Now PlayingBLACK FOOT – VO: Bingham Memorial hospital is taking a step forward in their medical practices.
SOT: It’s advancing technology, state of the art, first of it’s kind,” Bingham Memorial Hospital CEO, Jeff Daniels says.
VO: The Mazor X robotics system provides minimally invasive, robot guided spine surgery.
SOT: “You’re able to preoptively plan exactly where placement of instrumentation is going where skin incisons are made and thereby increasing your precision and accuracy and allowing you to do it more minimally invasive,” Dr. Robert Johnson says.
STAND UP: Bingham Memorial Hospital is one of five hospitals in the country using the robotic, spinal surgery system.
VO: The hospital acquired the Mazor X in its mission to provide quality health care. Hospital administrators say Dr. Robert Johnson is one of the few qualified to use the Mazor X, and he assisted in its development.
SOT: “We had wonderful Dr. Johnson here and we wanted to be able to use his skills that he trained on when he was in fellowship. This will bring a unique piece of equipment that will change how spine surgery is done in Eastern Idaho,” Daniels said.
VO: The Mazor X’s largest advantage is its ability to help patients recover faster.
SOT: “The biggest thing about Mazor X is its capabilities in how produces improved patient out comes. With spine surgery it’s a precarious and technically demanding surgery anyways and has certain complications that have been traditionally acceptable,” Johnson says.
