as posted by the channelIDAHO FALLS -- Roadwork and a minor crash are slowing traffic along Sunnyside Road in Idaho Falls.
Idaho Falls announced that Intermountain Slurry Seal is working for the Idaho Transportation Department to complete pavement preservation projects in the city. On Friday morning crews closed a lane in each direction to begin the work.
Traffic slowed for miles along one of Idaho Falls' busiest roads and the crash Friday afternoon did not help. A crash involving an SUV, a sedan, and a trike blocked another lane between Yellowstone Highway and Rollandet Street shortly after 2 p.m.
A man riding the trike was taken by ambulance to Idaho Falls Community Hospital with minor injuries. The man was seen walking at the scene.
The city if Idaho Falls reports the pavement preservation to happen between Wednesday and July 28 with crews working from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily. The roads scheduled for work are Sunnyside Road, 25th East, 12th Street, 10th Street, 9th Street, 5th Street, Snake River Parkway and Anderson Street.
"Pavement preservation consists of pavement marking removal and micro-surfacing overlay to provide a skid-resistant surface to protect the existing asphalt," according to a city news release.
Officials report during the road work some streets will be closed for a portion of the day while others will have lane restrictions.
Police and construction crews ask people to reduce speeds and obey traffic control throughout the work zone. Those with additional questions are asked to call Intermountain Slurry Seal at (385)-245-3093.
