An emotional goodbye for Rexburg Police Detective Sgt. Chuck Kunsaitis. He signed off for the last time Tuesday following a 25 year career at the department.
Chuck is a big guy and looks intimidating...but he's really a soft teddy bear with a huge heart.
Nate Eaton first met him nearly 20 years ago when I was assigned to cover a police Taser training. He was tased on-camera, and, based on his reaction, Nate decided he never wanted to have an experience with a Taser!
Fast forward to May 2023 when Lori Vallow Daybell was found guilty. It was quite emotional in the courtroom and Nate was one of the last to leave. Chuck was standing outside in the hallway with tears in his eyes. Nate went to shake his hand and he gave me a huge hug. Justice had been served.
Well done, Chuck, on an impressive law enforcement career serving the Rexburg community! Thanks for your service!
