IDAHO FALLS--A local man has been sentenced Tuesday afternoon after accepting a pleading guilty to sexual battery of a minor.
Jaime Campos, 28, was originally charged, according to court records, with two felony counts of enticing a child through the internet but was dismissed as part of a plea agreement.
In exchange for a guilty plea, the state dismissed the original charges for the amended charge of sexual battery of a minor.
According to the agreement, the state and the defense agreed to recommend a sentence of two years in prison and can later discuss the indeterminate amount at sentencing.
This agreement was non-binding, which District Judge Dane Watkins Jr. decided not to follow.
