YouTube Description
as posted by the channelMichigan State Police asked Livonia officers for help with a stolen vehicle traveling westbound on I-96 near Farmington Road.
Police used a tool called the Grappler — which deploys a net around a vehicle’s rear tire to bring it to a stop. After being caught, the driver tried to break free by slamming the car in reverse and then forward. The Grappler held, and the vehicle’s rear axle was ripped off, disabling the car. (Police say this damage isn’t typical with the device and was caused by the driver’s reckless actions.)
A 27-year-old man from Brighton was arrested along with two passengers — a 32-year-old woman from Wayne and a 31-year-old woman from Livonia. No one was hurt.
Police say they’re proud the situation was resolved safely and the stolen car was removed from the road.
