A 19-year-old Florida man learned the hard way about the state's new Super Speeder Law after deputies say he was caught driving 106 mph across the Edison Bridge early Sunday morning.

Deputies say Santiago Londono was pulled over after being clocked at more than double the speed limit. When asked why he was speeding, Londono reportedly told them his mother was rushing him to take his friend—who was in the passenger seat—home.

The deputy reminded him that under Florida’s new law, which took effect July 1, driving over 100 mph is now an arrestable offense.

Londono was arrested and booked for operating a vehicle over 100 mph.
