Day 17 of the Lindsay Clancy trial was brief, but the testimony was memorable. Only one witness took the stand: Sheila Kavanaugh, a chaplain who first met Lindsay in the hospital.
Kavanaugh described Lindsay’s condition when they first met and revealed conversations jurors had never heard before. She testified that after Lindsay was able to speak, she told the chaplain she was “so glad my children are safe.”
Kavanaugh said Lindsay also spoke repeatedly about hearing a persistent male voice that told her she needed to follow its commands. Over the past three years, Kavanaugh says she has met with Lindsay roughly 200 times.
Prosecutors challenged Kavanaugh on cross-examination about why those statements, including the alleged voice, were not documented in her notes.

Plus, we turn to the Mario Fernandez Saldana murder trial, where the defense attacked key pieces of the state’s case, including the lack of physical evidence placing Fernandez at the murder scene and the missing 10mm gun. Jurors also heard secretly recorded conversations with Fernandez, while an FBI cellphone expert began presenting location evidence that could become a major part of the prosecution’s case.
