- Disputed external borders are shown from the US' perspective claim until solved.
- If a territory is unlabeled, that means it is an unorganized territory.
- Several wars are simplified due to the scale/scope of this video.
- Indigenous cessions at times overlapped with others. In addition, some are too small to see at this scale.
- The passing of indigenous lands to US territory was based on a mixture of treaty cessions, war conquests, and grandfathered land grants in the case of the Mexican Cession territories.
