as posted by the channelAfriForum has had to go to court as a respondent in a matter brought before the court by the Nelson Mandela Foundation (NMF) to institute a wide reaching ban on what they describe as the "gratuitous" display of the old South African flag. AfriForum was added as a respondend by the NMF and has described itself in its court papers as a "reluctent respondent". The reason for this is that AfriForum doesn't display the old South African flag and discourages the display of the flag. On the other hand, AfriForum believes in freedom of speech and is not convinced that the displaying of a flag could constitute hate speech, regardless of whether the flag is offensive or not.
