Shakti Kapoor reveals his father forgave him for eloping with Shivangi due to Lata Mangeshkar

Actor Shakti Kapoor feels he is fortunate to be married to his wife Shivangi Kolhapure, who is Lata Mangeshkar's grand-niece. In a new interview, the ‘Andaz Apna Apna’ actor revealed that his father forgave him for eloping with Shivangi as she was related to the late Lata Mangeshkar.Shakti revealed that Shivangi's family was against their marriage, so they ran away from their homes and tied the knot but his father later forgave him. He said, ‘Shivangi's family did not agree to our relationship, so we eloped and got married. My father, Sikandarlal Kapoor in Delhi got to know about it, he decided not to talk to me. My mother asked him to meet the girl once. As soon as he saw Shivangi, who is 10-12 years younger to me, he was like badi pyaari bachhi hai. She sang two lines and my father stood up and asked how come she sings so well. I told Lata ji is her first cousin, He stood up and said ‘Teri sab galtiyaan maaf’, because you got married in such big family.' He asked her to sing Lata ji's song and shared that he is a huge fan of hers. As soon as Shivangi sang, he got emotional’. In the interview, Shakti Kapoor also mentioned how daughter Shraddha has got her singing talents because of the genes in her family.Shraddha and mother Shivangi had also gone to meet Mangeshkar at Breach Candy hospital during her last days. Shraddha was spotted attending Lata's last rites at Shivaji Park as well. She even shared a childhood pic with her ‘Lata aaji’ and penned a heartfelt note for her on Instagram. Her post read, ‘I will forever cherish the honour of having shared precious moments with you. Your hand on my head, your warm gaze, your loving words of encouragement. Thank you for your simplicity, divinity, excellence and grace. Truly The Greatest of all time! I ❤️ You Lata Aaji.’
