One of the most loved singers of the Indian film industry, Bappi Lahiri, passed away at the age of 69 at Criticare hospital in Mumbai. Fondly called the Disco King of the 80s and 90s, Bappi da is known for superhit songs like 'I Am A Disco Dancer', 'Yaad Aa Raha Hai Tera Pyaar' among others. Apart from his music, Bappi Da was also known for his love for gold and he was often regarded as Goldman. Bappi Lahiri was never seen without his gold ornaments as he was always seen wearing a lot of gold ornaments including chains, rings and bracelets. But do you know the reason behind Bappi Da’s love for gold? A few years down the line, while speaking about his gold ornaments, Bappi da revealed that it is somewhere connected to the King of Rock and Roll, Elvis Presley. Elaborating further, he said, ‘In Hollywood, famous singer Elvis Presley used to wear gold chains. I was a huge follower of Presley. I used to think, if I become successful someday, then I will build a different image of mine. By the grace of God, I could do it with gold. Earlier people used to think, it is just a way to show off. But it is not so. Gold is lucky for me.’ Well Bappi Da was a versatile singer as he loved moving along with time. Goldman Bappi Da recently gave up all his gold ornaments  to embrace the new age metal 'Luminex Uno,' which promises to be an alternative precious metal. When Bappi Lahiri opted for this metal instead of gold, he talked about it. Explaining about ‘Luminex Uno’ he said, ‘This new age metal Luminex Uno- made up of gold, platinum and silver is excellent. I have never endorsed any brand, but this time, I am definitely endorsing this new age metal.’ Bappi Da will be laid to rest tomorrow as per an official statement released by his family. Although the veteran singer is no more with us, his music will be cherished forever.
