'I don’t believe in the term 'pan-India': Abhishek Bachchan on the success of RRR, KGF: Chapter 2

While pan-India films like 'RRR', Pushpa: The Rise' and the latest one 'KGF: Chapter 2' got immense success at the box office and shattered several records, Hindi flicks such as 'Bahchhan Pandey', 'Attack: Part 1' and others failed to meet the expectation of the audience. While reacting to this, actor Abhishek Bachchan has shared his take on 'pan-India' films. While stating that he does not believe in the term 'pan-India', he said that it has never mattered which language cinema has been made in, since people all across the country love cinema regardless of the industry it's made in. 'I don’t believe in this term. What does that even mean? Do we use this for any other industry? Not at all. We are a large cinema-going population and we love our cinema. It has never mattered which language it has been made in', said Abhishek in a conversation with a news portal. Given the trend of Hindi filmmakers remaking south films, Abhishek also refuses to accept the claim that Bollywood is lacking in terms of content. He said, 'Not at all. Why would you say that? Are you telling me that Hindi films are not being remade in the South? That is an unfair question because no matter what you say the answer will come out defensive. We all are part of the Indian film industry. We might work in different languages, but we are part of the same industry. We all cater to the same audience. It is not entirely fair to label any film industry. Films in Hindi or any languages have always been remade. It is not a new phenomenon. There has always been an exchange of content all the time. Nothing wrong in that.' Meanwhile, on the work front, after garnering praises for his last outing 'Dasvi', Abhishek will next be seen in the third season of his web series, 'Breathe.'
