In an interview, the actress was all praise for the legendary actor with whom she has worked in several films like ‘Faraar’, ‘Chupke Chupke’, ‘Desh Premee’, ‘Besharam’ among others. Sharmila said, ‘Long before we co-starred for the first time in ‘Faraar’ and ‘Chupke Chupke’ in 1975, we were family friends.’ She added, ‘Comic star Mehmood who was very close to Amit brought him to the sets of one of my films.’ Sharmila Tagore is full of admiration for the ‘Deewar’ actor: ‘Amit has had a fabulous innings. In spite of two major setbacks; during Coolie he had a near-fatal accident, he bounced back. Then, his production house AB Corp Ltd went bankrupt. But he paid back all his debts and bounced back again.’ The actress even revealed that he is very observant and also praised his sense of humour. ‘He is a very strong pillar of our film industry’, said Sharmila.‘He is a very intelligent man. He knows the pulse of the audience. He has managed to keep himself relevant. Some of us of that generation are not techno-savvy. But he is into I-pads and all that. He interacts with my son Saif and people who are younger than Saif. And he can connect on their level. Then on another level he recites his father’s poetry beautifully. There is a very erudite side of him. I have been to different places with him where he has represented our country so eloquently’, said Sharmila ji.
