In a tweet, she mentioned that her car journey to Dahisar took two hours and was tiring, prompting her to take the Metro instead. She reached her destination in just half an hour and shared pictures and videos of her Metro adventure. The actress praised the cleanliness and efficiency of the Mumbai Metro.
"I must share with all of you my unique, wonderful experience. Drove 2 hours to reach Dahisar by car, so tiring! In the eve decided I would try the metro, and OMG! What a joy it was! True, we went through tough times during the construction, but worth it! Clean, fast & was in Juhu in 1/2 hr," she wrote in the tweet sharing pictures of her at the Metro station.
Hema Malini, who is a Member of Parliament from Mathura, has always been vocal about her support for public transport and her desire to see it developed further. She has previously urged the government to improve the public transport system in Mumbai, which is known for its traffic congestion.
Her decision to travel on the Metro has been appreciated by many, who have praised the actress for setting an example for others to follow. Many have also pointed out that the Mumbai Metro is a much faster and convenient mode of transport compared to cars, especially during peak hours when traffic is at its worst.
The Mumbai Metro, which began operations in 2014, is the city's first rapid transit system. It is currently operational on several routes, connecting different parts of the city. The system is known for its modern facilities, efficient operations, and eco-friendliness.
