Actress Vimi’s SAD story: Left by husband, forced into prostitution, died a miserable death

Though the showbiz industry gives fame to many actors and actresses, it can also be brutal to some. In the early 60’s, Vimi who made her Bollywood debut opposite Sunil Dutt in ‘Hamraaz’ was touted to be the next big superstar of the film industry. However, fate had something else in store for her. After the stupendous success of ‘Hamraaz’, the beautiful actress went on to star in many films like ‘Aabroo’, ‘Patanga’, ‘Vachan’ among others, but none of them impressed the audiences. Though she appeared on numerous magazine covers in her career, she was not getting any film offers after a point. According to reports, Vimi had also suffered rough domestic violence at the hands of her businessman husband Shiv Agarwal, from whom she got separated later. Post that, it was reported that she was living with a small-time producer named Jolly, who exploited her as well. Even Vimi's business venture Vimi Textiles was sold to pay her debts, and she went bankrupt and apparently found solace in alcohol. Once considered a promising superstar, the actress reportedly spent her last few years in extreme poverty. She died in her mid-30s due to liver complications at Nanavati Hospital’s general ward and reportedly, her body was taken for cremation in a chanawalla’s cart.For more news and updates, stay tuned to ETimes.
