2:16Now PlayingThe India tour of Canada-based singer Shubhneet Singh, known for his stage name Shubh, stands cancelled amid massive backlash over his alleged support for Khalistan and separatists in the past. Ticketing platform BookMyShow recently took to their official X account stating, ‘Singer Shubhneet Singh’s Still Rollin Tour for India stands cancelled. To that end, BookMyShow has initiated a complete refund of the ticket amount for all consumers who had purchased tickets for the show. The refund will be reflected within 7-10 working days in the customer’s source account of the original transaction.’ Shubh was scheduled to tour multiple cities in India like Mumbai, Bengaluru, Delhi, Hyderabad among others over the next two months. The decision came amid the ongoing protests of the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM), the youth wing of BJP in Mumbai, against Shubh. They had written to Mumbai police earlier asking them to register and FIR against Shubh for waging war against Government of India and posting anti-government posts. Notably, before the tour was cancelled, electronics brand boAt had also announced that it has withdrawn their sponsorship, citing that it was ‘first and foremost a true Indian brand’. Even a popular short video-sharing app has taken down Shubh’s songs from their platform citing ‘divisive content’ from the singer. To give some background, Shubh had posted two stories on his Instagram account in March this year, which had a distorted map of India without Jammu and Kashmir and Punjab, along with the caption ‘Pray for Punjab’. Several Indian cricketers like Virat Kohli & Shubman Gill who have been seen grooving to his songs in the past have unfollowed him on Instagram recently. For more news and updates, stay tuned to ETimes.
