Kareena Kapoor reveals Shahid Kapoor played an important part in convincing her for 'Jab We Met'

'Jab We Met' played a crucial role in the career of Kareena Kapoor. The way she essayed the character of 'Geet' in the superhit film garnered immense appreciation from the cinephiles. Recently, to mark the 16th anniversary of the film, Bebo shared an interesting insight into how she came to work on the iconic project. She revealed that Shahid Kapoor played an important part in convincing her to take on the movie. In an interview with Mid-Day, the actress said, 'I was actually without work. I hadn’t worked in a year and a half because I was saying no to big films. I was not getting the kind of film that I wanted. Films weren’t working, so I wanted to take a sabbatical for a year and a half.' Further, she shared, 'Imtiaz came out of the blue and it so happened. He approached Shahid, and Shahid told me, ‘Hey, listen, you know, he’s going to approach you for this role and it’s great,’ and I was like yeah, I’ll work. I’ll do this movie.' While praising the film, Kareena added, 'I never knew that it would be this iconic movie' and mentioned she would constantly talk about 'Tashan' thinking that it would be a big film. Shahid and Kareena were one of the perfect couples seen off-screen and on-screen. They were in a relationship for almost five years. However, the two parted ways for the reasons best known to them.
