The actor, whose real name was Naeem Sayyed, had been undergoing treatment at Mumbai's Tata Memorial Hospital and was in the process of recuperating at home. Sadly, his condition took a turn for the worse, requiring oxygen support, but he couldn't overcome the challenges posed by the advanced cancer. Close friend Salam Kazi, who confirmed the actor's demise to ETimes, revealed that Junior Mehmood had been unwell for two months, initially perceived as a minor ailment. However, subsequent medical reports unveiled cancer in the liver, lungs, and a tumour in the intestine, accompanied by jaundice, classifying it as stage four cancer. The funeral is scheduled for around 12 pm at the Juhu Muslim Cemetery in Santacruz West, where his mother is also interred. Fellow industry veterans like Johny Lever, Jeetendra, and Sachin Pilgaonkar had recently visited the ailing actor. Junior Mehmood, bestowed with his moniker by the late comedy icon Mehmood, commenced his career as a child artist with "Mohabbat Zindagi Hai" (1966) and "Naunihal" (1967). Over a prolific four-decade career, he graced over 250 films in seven languages, including hits like "Brahmachari," "Kati Patang," "Hare Rama Hare Krishna," and "Aaj Ka Arjun." His television appearances included popular shows like "Pyaar Ka Dard Hai Meetha Meetha Pyaara Pyaara" and "Ek Rishta Saajhedari Ka."
