According to CBS News, Arrington faced a 'resign or be fired' ultimatum from Trump’s aides. The controversy began during Trump’s second state visit to the U.K. in September. Arrington allegedly refused to hand over a World War II–era sword from the Eisenhower collection. Trump nonetheless presented the Eisenhower sword to King Charles, citing it as a symbol of U.S.–U.K. wartime alliance. Days later, the museum director was reportedly forced to step down for 'defying' the president’s order. The Eisenhower Presidential Library — part of the National Archives and Records Administration (NARA) — is located in Abilene, Kansas, the hometown of the 34th U.S. President.
