May we pause In prayer: In but a few days, the Jewish community will observe the festival of Pentecost-the anniversary of the giving of the Law on Mount Sinai. That sublime law as exemplified by the Ten Commandments has endured through the ages, lifting the hearts and minds of humanity. We pray, 0 Lord, that Your presence will inspire these creators of law in their tasks; that they may aspire to the extraordinary, making the law of the land to guide and protect, to free and instruct. May Your Kingship of peace be established with great speed so that all who are fettered or oppressed will know blessing. May the work of the minds, hearts, and hands of those who make up this singular body be established working in partnership with You, 0 Lord, to bring about a world filled with blessIng. And we respond, "Amen."
