PRAYER
Rabbi Tzvi H. Porath, Adat Reyim Congregation of Neighbors, Springfield, VA, offered the following prayer:
Our Heavenly Father, we invoke Thy blessing upon the Members of the Sen- ate of the United States as they pre- pare to deliberate the vital issues af- fecting our Nation.
We are grateful to Thee for Thy gift of the moral and spiritual teachings which have become part and ·parcel of the fundamental beliefs upon which our country was founded.
We ask Thee to imbue those who guide the affairs of state with insight and wisdom "so that justice and eq- uity, peace and serenity, happiness and prosperity abide among us.
"May all the inhabitants of this Na- tion join in a common bond of fellow- ship and brotherhood to banish hatred and bigotry, to safeguard the ideals and free institutions which are the pride and glory of our Nation.
"May this land under Y our provi- dence continue to be an influence for good throughout the world, uniting all people in peace and freedom and help- ing them to fulfill the vision of Your prophet: 'nation shall not lift up sword against nation, neither shall they learn waranymore1' '' Amen.
