In this compelling episode, Dr. Caryn A. Reeder dismantles centuries of misinterpretation surrounding the Samaritan woman in John 4. Rather than an immoral outcast, Reeder reveals her as a model disciple—a theologically savvy, bold evangelist who leads others to Jesus. With her expertise in gender, violence, and family dynamics in biblical texts, Dr. Reeder exposes how church history, patriarchal assumptions, and purity culture have distorted women's roles in Scripture and in modern faith communities. The episode ties these distortions to the #ChurchToo movement and explores how reclaiming biblical women’s stories can reframe discipleship, justice, and leadership today. A must-listen for anyone passionate about biblical interpretation, gender equity, and reclaiming lost voices in the church.
