1:18:23Now PlayingWas America founded as a Christian nation? What did the founders actually believe about religion, government, and religious liberty?
As a follow-up to our Church & State: 250 Years of Faith in America series, Warren Throckmorton joins Faithful Politics live for an audience Q&A about America’s religious history, the founding era, Christian nationalism, David Barton, and the claims that continue to shape public debate.
Throughout CAS 250, we have looked at how religion influenced America before the founding, through the Constitution, slavery, segregation, evangelical politics, and the rise of Christian nationalism. This live session gives viewers a chance to continue that conversation and bring their own questions directly to one of the scholars who helped us examine the historical record.
Warren has spent years working with primary sources and challenging popular stories that do not hold up under scrutiny. During the event, we will take questions from viewers, examine commonly repeated claims about the founders, and talk about how historians separate evidence from myth.
Bring your questions, quotations, or historical claims you want checked.
