Sidney Powell Offers The Dumbest Defense Ever For Pushing Trump's Lies

She now says that she can't be punished for these lies because they were just her "opinions," and everyone is entitled to their own opinion. Weekend video number three, three, two, one Republican attorney, Sidney Powell, uh, had her lawyers back in court this past week, trying to prevent Powell from being sanctioned for pushing baseless, conspiracy theories in court. And this new defense they've come up with honest to God is one of the dumbest defenses. I think I have ever heard based on the accusations against Powell, again, that she lied and pushed conspiracy theories in court. Her lawyer this week told the court, Hey, she couldn't be lying because she wasn't saying these as statements of fact, she was expressing her opinion. And as we all know, everybody's entitled to their opinion. You can't punish somebody for that. So boom case closed I'm lawyer of the year. Yeah. Um, you, you may, you know, uh, defense attorney, Stephanie Lambert, uh, you Antia,

That route because first and foremost, Sidney Powell was actually saying these as statements of fact, do you know how we know that?

Because she said them in court,

You see, and you, as a defense attorney know this, you can't make false court filings. You can't lie in a court filing. You can't show up in court and then lie. You also, when trying to make your case are not allowed to express your opinion about things. And of course, what we're talking about here are the baseless conspiracy theories that Sidney Powell pushed both in public and in court filings alleging that somehow this election was rigged that the voting systems were rigged against Donald Trump. And she said this in court, and you can't do that without evidence. And if what this lawyer is saying, if she was truly expressing her opinion, you also can't do that in court. A lawyer cannot go up into the court and be like, look, in my opinion, this dude killed that dude. Like totally the other side's gonna be like, hold up.

Objection, you can't, you can't just give an opinion based on nothing. That's not how the legal system in the United States works. And her defense attorney knows it. But what she's fighting right now and keep in mind, this is actually separate from the defamation lawsuit that Sidney Powell was facing. What she's fighting right now is Sidney Powell being sanctioned by the court for repeatedly, uh, spreading these conspiracy theories and pushing Trump's big lie in court. This isn't exactly the stellar defense that this attorney thinks it is. But honestly, at this point, it's probably all they got left because there is no actual way to defend what Sidney Powell did. So the defense attorney, you know, uh, I'm gonna wanna, you know, rain on their parade here, but this was probably like the last tool in their arsenal probably said, well, how, what, what if, what if we tell the judge, it was just your opinion. I got nothing else. Why don't we try this ADR legal maneuver? Maybe it works, but look, this is all I can do for you. So I don't really fault the defense attorney here. They're doing everything they can, everybody is entitled to representation. It is an absolutely idiotic argument, but in court you typically only go to the idiotic arguments when you have nothing else to offer. And I'm pretty sure that's what's happening in Sydney Pal's case here.
