Charges might be coming against Republican Congressman Matt Gaetz. Very, very soon. It's been about a week or so since we've had any major revelations from the Matt Gaetz saga, you know, we were getting stuff kind of every other day at one point, and then it cooled off for a little bit. But trust me, this story is not going away. There is new information that came out yesterday. So here it is. According to a source, familiar with the investigation, speaking to CNN, federal officials, authorities, excuse me, are trying to get two witnesses to roll on Matt Gates. One of them is a former Hill staffer who also happens to be an ex-girlfriend of Matt Gaetz. And the other of course is indicted Florida, Republican Joel Greenberg, who was facing 33 different counts. Uh, some of them including trafficking. So Greenberg is likely a yes already, um, especially because he now knows by the way that Matt Gaetz was one of the people who said, don't give him a pardon.
Greenberg has nothing to lose by rolling on Matt Gaetz. He has everything to gain. Maybe he can not spend the rest of his life in prison, maybe just most of the rest of his life. But Matt Gaetz is toast folks. And not just because they're trying to get these two individuals to cooperate the ex-girlfriend. I don't know. I really don't know if they would be able to get her to flip. Um, if it's the same woman that has been concerned in the past that they may get her on obstruction of justice, that absolutely would be used as a bargaining chip in order to get her to cooperate. So that's certainly a very real possibility. Um, Greenburg, I think 100% has already been cooperating, but those aren't even just the reasons Matt Gaetz is told.
Here's what this means. Okay. Ever since the scandal broke, everybody's had to kind of include the caveat and if they did, and it was a little bit of malpractice there, but the caveat is that one, Matt Gates has not been charged too. He's not necessarily the target of the investigation, or we do not know that he is the target of the investigation. All we knew is that he was mentioned that all changes with this new information. Of course, yes. He still has not been charged that hasn't changed. But if this report is accurate, if this source that talked to CNN is telling the truth and they are trying to get people to flip on Matt Gates, then yes, that means he is 100% a target in this investigation. In fact, I wouldn't even say a target. I would say the target. Hey, that's what this story tells us. That's why this is so big. Not just that, Hey, people may flip on them. Hey, that's a great, I'm sure a lot of them already have. It tells us the Gates is the focus.
It gets worse For him. The pursuit of the cooperation comes as investigators are nearly finished collecting evidence, according to the source. Do you know what happens when they finish collecting evidence? Either they don't have the evidence and have a nice day or they say, well, judge, here's all this evidence we have. Can you go ahead and give us a warrant? Those are the two possibilities that remain for Matt Gates at this point, again, assuming this story is correct, which, you know, you gotta take everything with a grain of salt these days, but if this story is accurate, accurate, excuse me, I don't know what's wrong with me. If this story is accurate, uh, Gates, his days are numbered. They're absolutely numbered. And it wouldn't be surprising at this point. If these witnesses are cooperating to expect charges, to be filed, perhaps even before the end of this month,
