Ivanka Trump Could Be In A World Of Trouble

During a deposition as part of an ongoing fraud investigation into the possible misuse of inaugural funds by the Trump Organization, Ivanka Trump claimed that she didn't know who Allen Weisselberg was. He's the CFO of the Trump Organization and has been with Trump since the 1970's, so she's either lying or incredibly bad at her job. Either way, her denial is raising eyebrows as it could point to serious legal troubles for her in the future. Farron Cousins explains what's happening.

Ivanka Trump. It was recently revealed through a deposition that was actually posted by Stephanie Winston. Wolkoff one of the, uh, former friends of former first lady, Melania Trump. But anyway, in this deposition piece that walk-off posted Ivanka. Trump claimed that she didn't know who Allen Weisselberg was. Now. Allen Weisselberg is currently the chief financial officer of the Trump organization and has been with the Trump organization since the 1970s. And I believe he has been the CFO since Ivanka Trump became an executive at the Trump organization all the way back in 2005. So she's an executive, he's an executive, but by God, in this definition, she said, or deposition, excuse me. She says, I don't know, never met the guy. Now I actually talked about this on Monday, uh, over on ring of fire, but I wanted to do a little bit of a deeper dive because the more I think about this, the more it really does bother me about why Ivanka would lie about whether or not she knows another executive. You knew him. We know you know him.

So by the way, in case you're not familiar, this was not a deposition into what's happening in New York. This is a deposition about the possible misuse of inaugural funds that is still being investigated, uh, with the, uh, uh, uh, I believe it's the us attorney's office in Washington, DC. They're the ones looking into this Trump organization is accused of jacking up the hotel prices in order to make more money because Trump did his inaugural events at Trump international hotel in DC. So that's the issue was Weisselberg even involved in that. I don't know, but anyway, and again, I hit, I hit on this at ring of fire, but I want to, I want to build upon it a little more here. I think what Ivanka Trump is doing in this deposition, because this deposition happened while the New York investigation was taking place. So she knew what was coming down the pipeline in New York.

So she goes into this deposition on a different issue, tries to distance herself from Allen Weisselberg. So that way, when it came time to be deposed in New York, because yeah, that is eventually coming. She can say, listen, look back at this other deposition. I told them just like, I'm telling you, I don't know this guy. I never dealt with this guy. Was he committing crimes at my organization? You better tell me if he was because I'll, I'll take him down. I'll fire his, but that's what she's doing. She's playing the long game. And I'm assuming somebody probably advised her that this is the best path to take for her defense because yes, they're building a defense here. It's so she is trying to build upon this to get out of trouble in New York. There is literally no other reason why she would lie about not knowing this guy, either that, or she was the worst executive ever. Like if you work with somebody for over a decade, like you're both literally executives, your names are on a fricking letterhead, okay. You're on both on the website of the organization and you don't know the guy, then you either suck at your job or you're a liar. Now I'm not saying Ivanka doesn't suck at her job. But I am saying she's most likely a liar.

And again, in that particular instance where she was being deposed about Weisselberg I don't know why Solberg's connection to the Trump inaugural fund. That wasn't a Ivanka thing. Ivanka was helping to run that. So I don't know where, why Solberg ties into that. Perhaps he does. Maybe that's something that's going to come out of the pipeline later, but I believe she's playing the long game here. And I believe it's only going to hurt her because again, it either makes her look like a liar or somebody who is incredibly incompetent.
