Republican Senator Ted Cruz desperately wants to keep the culture war alive, and he doesn't care if he has to make himself look like an idiot in order to do that. Cruz has proposed new legislation that would cut off federal funds from any public institution that teaches students that one race is better than the other, or that any of the founding documents of America contained any information that one race was superior. This would, by definition, outlaw the teaching of the U.S. Constitution, as Farron Cousins explains.

Republican Senator Ted Cruz is doing everything he possibly can to stoke the flames of the culture wars here in the United States. And he has latched on to the Republican talking point. That critical race theory is somehow harmful to the United States. But what Ted Cruz has done is he's taken that concept, put it on steroids and actually drafted legislation that would strip federal funding away from any public school here in the United States that teaches anything

Having to do with races and whether or not one races superior to another, or that the races

Are somehow on equal or that the United States. And that in the United States, founding doctor [inaudible]

Mention anything about

Race. It's truly a spectacular piece of legislation because it's one of the most idiotic things ever this piece of legislation put together by Ted Cruz, who let's not forget is supposed to be some kind of constitutional scholar would actually for

Bid the teaching

Of the United States constitution in public schools across the country. That's how stupid Ted Cruz is. And that's how desperate he is to latch onto the idea that he is somehow the leading Crusader,

I guess, of the culture war. Now

This piece of legislation specifically says that you cannot teach that any of the founding documents, including the constitution or the declaration of independence included any language that would imply

That one race is better than the others or that one is subservient to the others. So, you know, any mention at all of slavery, which includes

Three different amendments to the United States constitution would effectively be banned under Ted Cruz's legislation. You couldn't learn about the 13th, 14th or 15th amendment under Ted Cruz's new legislation. That's how stupid this guy is. And really, I, I cannot say that enough, this is stupid. And Ted Cruz, by the way, knows that it's stupid. And he knows that this piece of legislation is in fact designed to fail. It will never become a law here in the United States. It's not even intended to become a law. What this legislation is designed to do is to get stupid people riled up about a non-issue that's all Republicans have left. That's why they're going after the critical race theory. That's why they're out going after the transgender athlete bans.

It's stupid talk that does harm people,

But these pieces of legislation are being designed to address a non-issue something that's really not a threat to anyone, but Republicans have to convince

Straight white males for the most part,

That their way of life, that their livelihood, that their personhood is somehow under attack from these marginalized

Groups, with things like transgender athletes and of course critical race theory. That's who this legislation is appealing to

Because the average Republican out there who does get all riled up about critical race theory, they're not going to take the time to understand that Ted Cruz is literally proposing banning the constitution itself because there there's no follow through with them. They're going to see that Ted Cruz did this. That's going to be enough for them. And they're going to go about their day thinking

Ted Cruz is a hero, but those of us who pay attention, those of us who understand

What this legislation

Would do. We know how stupid Ted Cruz is, but what's worse. We see how stupid that he thinks his own base. It has become.
