Republican Senator Ted Cruz desperately wants to keep the culture war alive, and he doesn't care if he has to make himself look like an idiot in order to do that. Cruz has proposed new legislation that would cut off federal funds from any public institution that teaches students that one race is better than the other, or that any of the founding documents of America contained any information that one race was superior. This would, by definition, outlaw the teaching of the U.S. Constitution, as Farron Cousins explains.

Because the average Republican out there who does get all riled up about critical race theory, they're not going to take the time to understand that Ted Cruz is literally proposing banning the constitution itself because there there's no follow through with them. They're going to see that Ted Cruz did this. That's going to be enough for them. And they're going to go about their day thinking

Ted Cruz is a hero, but those of us who pay attention, those of us who understand
