According to reports, house minority leader. Kevin McCarthy is warning his fellow Republicans that if you serve on Nancy Pelosi select committee investigating the January 6th Capitol riot, you are going to be punished. And part of the punishment, according to the reports from CNN could be that you lose your committee assignments basically left as a powerless member of the house of representatives. Uh, Kevin McCarthy, after these reports came out yesterday, uh, issued a statement. He said, I'm not making any threats about committee assignments, but you know how Congress works. You get elected by your district and you get your committees from your conference. I don't know it history where someone would go get their committee assignments from the speaker and expect to have them from the conference as well.

Yeah,

So it kind of sounds like you're threatening to strip people of their committee assignments if they serve on this committee. Now here's the thing, representative Liz Cheney, Republican from Wyoming has already been appointed by Pelosi to the committee. And this warning was clearly meant for people like Liz Cheney. And of course, a Republican representative, Adam Kinzinger, uh, who actually did respond to these threats and said, who gives a like that? That was Adam, Kinzinger his response. And even though he's a Republican, I, I gotta say I admire that. That, that is a good response. Who gives a, because this is too important. This really truly is one of those issues where, where you have to put country over party here, Kevin, but you're such a spineless, ridiculous little coward

That you're

Refusing to let your own Republican serve on the committee. And by the way, you actually had the opportunity, right? And in the first vote for the first, you know, commission that was going to be formed, you would have had the ability to put your own people on this committee, right? Could have basically had one hand on the steering wheel, along with the Democrats having one hand on the steering wheel. But you abdicated that you wanted to play politics. You wanted to be a partisan hack, and this is what you get. And you don't get to punish your little fellow Republicans. If they decide they want to do the right thing for once in

Their life, because yes would be

About the only good thing these Republicans do. Keep in mind, every Republican voted against the formation of this select committee with the exceptions of Kinzinger and Cheney. And this does not by any stretch of the imagination, absolve Kinzinger and Cheney of their past sins. And of course of their future sins, because outside of this one particular issue basically sticking it to Trump and his supporters, uh, there with Republicans, like 90% of the time, they all voted against the, uh, stimulus payments. They're all not working towards infrastructure. They're not doing anything on climate. They're certainly not giving us affordable healthcare. They're nothing for us. The only time they're going with the Democrats again, is on this particular issue. And it's because they actually hate Trump so much. I don't think it's because they love America or because they really want answers. It's because they hate Trump so

Much. Having said that this committee is the best

Possible thing we can hope for.

We do need these investigations, but most importantly, as I pointed out at ring of fire, we need to know why Republicans are fighting so hard against it because I'm not so convinced that it's only because all the answers are going to make Republicans look bad. Eh, you're fighting. So dang hard against it that I kind of feel like there's more at play here, which only bolsters the need for the committee. I hope the committee does what it's supposed to. I hope it's not drenched. And just partisanship trying to make Trump look bad. He looks bad enough, right? The whole January 6th day made him look like how he really looks, but the public needs to be reminded. The public deserves answers. The families of the people killed, deserve answers. We have to have a very clear picture of everything that took place before, during, and after

Anything short of that. And this whole

Committee thing was only for show.
