Republican Chair Clumsily Tries To Walk Back Comments Defending Capitol Rioters

Ronna McDaniel, chair of the Republican National Committee, tried to do some damage control this week after her Party's censure of Cheney and Kinzinger was described as being due to the persecution of "legitimate political discourse." McDaniel wanted people to know that she wasn't talking about the Capitol Rioters, but instead was talking about the fake electors scheme...Which is still a crime! So RNC chair, Ronald Romney McDaniel has been doing a bit of damage control over the last couple days after Theen motion last week against Liz Cheney and Adam Kinzinger described the January six committee as persecuting individuals for engaging in legitimate put political expressions. And of course, everybody jumped on that to basically tell her you're calling the insurrection legitimate political discourse. You're saying this was a legitimate political speech, basically covered by the first amendment for these individuals to, to storm the capital steal, things, break things, assault individuals, including police officers. Yeah. So she got hammered pretty dang hard over that. So on Tuesday Ronna Romney McDaniel decided to write an op-ed for the conservative website town hall, in which she tried to clarify what exactly she was talking about was legitimate political discourse. So here's what she has to say. Several members of the committee asserted when the center mentioned ordinary citizens and legitimate political discourse, it was referring to people like Kathy burden, a Republican committee member from Michigan who put herself on a fake slate of electors, huh? That's according to, uh, to the New York times.

And so I, I have to wonder if, if you're saying Ron, that you're not talking about the insurrectionists engaging in legitimate political discourse, you're talking about the fake electors, engaging in legitimate political discourse. Am I, am I getting that right from, from this report from the New York times? Like it's not these criminals that, that were engaging in legitimate political discourse. No, no, no. It's these criminals that we're engaging in legitimate political discourse. Um, be because for the record here, both things are illegal. So if you're trying to deflect attention away and try to say, hold your horses, everybody I'm not talking about that crime. No, no, no. I'm saying this crime was totally cool. How in the hell do Democrats ever lose to these people? Honestly, that was my first thought. When I came across this story, when I read through it, I'm thinking, how in the hell is it possible for Democrats to lose to people that are not only this incompetent, but God bless it. This stupid. She is literally out there saying relax folks. I'm not saying that illegal activity is cool. I'm saying this illegal activity is cool.

Oh, oh, oh my God. And the worst part is you have millions of people in this country who believe what she's saying is correct. They believe by the way that the capital writers did nothing wrong. And of course, I'm talking about the hardcore Republicans. They believe this crap that she that's an even bigger problem. But for real Democrats, if you lose to these people, I mean that honestly on, at this point, that's on you really? That is on you. These are the most corrupt and competently stupid people that we have had to deal with in decades here in this country, you should be slaughtering them with your poll numbers right now. But instead it still looks like Republicans are gonna take back the house of representatives. Trump admitted last week that he wanted Mike Pence to overturn the election. We found out this week, he was hoarding boxes of documents via the presidential records act, literally breaking a federal law that is punishable by up to three years in prison. And of course being banned from ever holding public office again, and y'all are losing to these people.

I don't even know. I, it is just one of, I don't even know, but in terms of the damage control that McDaniel is, is trying to engage in. Obviously it's not going very well. You can't try to excuse your stupid talk by saying, oh, I was talking about this crime being, okay, no crimes are crimes. And isn't the Republican party. The one that always says they're tough on crime, or are you the ones that are engaged aging and criminal activity and trying to defend criminal activity, cuz I'm pretty sure at this point, it's the latter y'all are covering up for a man who has very clearly violated the law.
