Republican Judge Blasts Republican Party For Bowing To Donald Trump

A former Republican federal judge had some choice words for the Republican Party recently, calling them out for being completely silent as their Party was hijacked by Donald Trump. Even worse, the judge says, is that far too many members of the Party appear to actually want to go even further down the Trump rabbit hole. Recently a retired Republican judge was not only given the opportunity to speak in front of a conservative group, but he also pinned an op-ed for the New York times where he called out his own party, the party that he has been a member of the party that appointed him to be a federal judge, but he called them over their cowardice and weakness due to their refusal to stand up to Donald Trump. Now, this is retired United States circuit judge of the United States court of appeals for the fourth circuit, Michael Lu. And here's what he had to say for the past six years. I have watched and listened in disgusted, not one single leader of ours had the moral authority, the courage and the will to stand up and say, no, this is not who we are. This is not what America is. It's not what we want to be. Not one single person had the courage to stand up and say, no.

He also, at one point described, it is a failure of leadership. He's not wrong. I take that back. You see judge, you are wrong. When you say this is not who we are. That's an inaccurate statement because that's a statement of opinion, right? And that would not be allowed in court. You should know that that is who you are. You may not want to said, you may not wanna look at it in the mirror, but it is 100% who you and your party are. It's what you have slowly been becoming for many, many years now. It's just that suddenly like the frog and the boiling pot, where the heat is gradually turned up and the water eventually gets hotter. The frog doesn't realize it's boiling until it's too late. And you see that's what happened with Donald Trump. And I do believe that really is the perfect analogy for this.

The water was getting turned up. Y'all were all boiling, but at first you thought, oh, this is just comfy. This is relaxing. Oh, what a nice, warm little sauna, you know, nice little hot tub we got going on here. And before you knew it, you were all well done because that's what Trump was. Suddenly. Trump appears as this scary reflection in the mirror that you're not used to. You don't recognize it because the change happened. So gradually Donald Trump stands for everything. The Republican party has been turning itself into for decades now, decades, that of course began with the corruption of the Nixon administration, the horrendous foreign policy and domestic policy of the Reagan years, right? The trickle down economics, the destruction of the unions, the overt racism with Reagan blaming all of your ills on these African American welfare Queens out there continued with the horrible foreign policy of the Bush administration.

Then the other Bush administration and the trickle down that came along with that. And then suddenly John McCain picks Sarah Palin dumbs politics down. Even further. We end up with people like Christina O'Donnell and Joanie Ernst, and then suddenly, boom, Trump's right there in your face, but it all happened gradually. And that's why they didn't notice. That's why people like judge Luda are out there saying, whoa, whoa, this isn't who we are, but it is Trump. Didn't do anything out of the ordinary for Republicans, other than say the quiet parts out loud, embrace the xenophobia, embrace the overt racism and embrace the disgust that has been manifesting itself within the Republican party towards anything that disagrees with them. This is who you are just because it's not who you want to be. Doesn't mean that that's not what the party had been in becoming for the last 60 years.
