Florida CRT Math Book Panic Based On Fake Image From Twitter

Florida recently banned more than 50 math textbooks in the state for allegedly teaching Critical Race Theory, and no one could figure out how math could do such a thing. Well, the answer is that it doesn't, and the DeSantis administration based their decision on fake images that were circulating online from a different state and a different subject. This isn't surprising, but the students in Florida are still going to pay the price for it, as Farron Cousins explains.

Hell this woman is? So let me read you the question. This little screenshot that Christina pshaw tweeted out says, uh, Angelou referring to Maya Angelou. Actually the math part of it is before the word problem, Y equals X plus two, three X plus six, Y equals 12. Angelou was sexually abused by her mother's blank at age eight, which shaped her career choices and motivation for writing. There's another question too. I'm not gonna get into that one. So, okay. You're trying to plot the points based on something about Maya Angelou. That just, that doesn't seem right. Doesn't, that's a weird way to do math.

When DeSantis, press secretary, Christina pshaw posted screen captures of objectionable math problems. It turned people to search which math book would use such a math problem. The one I just read you only to discover that the problem wasn't in a book, it was part of an internet worksheet and the company that posted it online had it removed. Another individual, found the actual post on the website with the questions that the supplemental site came up with. It clearly shows that someone edited the worksheet.

All of these people out there that have been saying, where is the evidence? The evidence doesn't exist. Our government here is that effing stupid that they fell for a internet hoax. And they've now banned 54 math textbooks because they don't know the difference between fantasy and reality. That question, I read you, somebody made it up and put it online. That wasn't the actual thing. And for the record, even that wasn't critical race theory. Like that's what blows my mind too. Like, well, this is it.
