State Bar Sues Republican AG For Trying To Overturn 2020 Election

The state bar of Texas has filed a lawsuit against indicted Republican Attorney General Ken Paxton for his attempts to overturn the 2020 election. Paxton had filed lawsuits in four states seeking to overturn their election results, even though he had neither the standing nor the jurisdiction to do so, so the state bar has hit him with the lawsuit alleging professional misconduct. The state bar of Texas has filed a lawsuit against already indicted Republican attorney general of Texas, Ken Paxton. Ken Paxton for the record was indicted. I think seven years ago is still awaiting trial, uh, for fraud. I believe it is. So Ken Paxton has been indicted for seven years. Still. Hasn't gone to trial. Actually. He just, you know, recently won his primary. So he could become attorney general again, like, okay, before we even get to the state bar lawsuit, why the hell is this guy still at office? Instead of being convicted? you know, the evidence pretty overwhelming, but he deserves his day in court. So let's give him his day in court, but either way back to the big issue here well that, that's the big issue back to the other issue here. It's a weird legal situation, but either way, the lawsuits he filed against four states for changing their voting rules ahead of the 2020 election. And in this lawsuit against these states of which Texas was not one of them, he attempted to get basically the results overturned because the states, as he says cheated by changing the rules about mail-in voting because we were in a pandemic lawsuits obviously were not successful. You know, I, I don't think we need to explain why he, he has no authority over what other states do. And that actually is at the heart of this lawsuit filed by the state bar. An attorney general in one state cannot just Willy nilly, Sue another state for a decision that the state has the legal authority to make, especially one that does not affect your state. Now, if it was an issue of interstate commerce, you know, we've seen plenty of lawsuits, a state sues another state because their decision does impact their state.

That is something that can in fact move forward, but changing a state's voting laws, which each state is literally allowed to do per the United States government. You can't Sue another state for that, if you could. I'm pretty sure a lot of these blue states would be suing all the red states for the voter purges and voter suppression laws that they continue to pass. But we can't do that. And our attorney generals, the democratic attorney generals are smart enough to know that, but apparently Republicans like Ken Paxton aren't so Ken Paxton sued these states without jurisdiction, without standing without cause without merit. And now the state bar of Texas says wonderful. We're suing you. We're suing you for professional misconduct for knowingly filing these absolutely ridiculous

Lawsuits that had no chance of winning again, cuz you have no jurisdiction. You have no standing, there's no injury, there's no merit to anything you're saying you're challenging the legal authority of these states to conduct their own elections in the way that they choose to conduct them, which is their right given to them by the federal government. So what happens to Ken Paxton? Probably nothing in terms of the voters in Texas, holding him accountable, definitely not gonna happen. Is he gonna face any real consequences? Even if he loses this lawsuit, he could possiblys legal license. Sure. But that's really not going to affect what he does as attorney general. And I know that sounds weird, but it is what it is. So this one I hope Paxton does in fact lose. I hope he loses his law license, but more importantly, I hope he finally goes to trial after sitting there being an indicted attorney general for seven fricking years.
