4:20Now PlayingTrump attorney John Eastman suffered a major legal blow this week - which means Trump did, as well - after a federal judge ordered the release of more of his emails to the January 6th Committee. The judge even pointed out in his ruling that some of these emails appear to show evidence of a crime, which is why they cannot be protected by Attorney-Client privilege. Farron Cousins explains the impact these emails could have on everyone involved.

Folks, the televised primetime hearings of the January 6th select committee will begin this evening. I am looking forward to it, but Republicans are not. Republicans are very unhappy that this is happening. Donald Trump is unhappy with it. And I imagine we understand why this is going to be very bad for Republicans. You know how we know it's gonna be very bad and bad for Republicans, not just the way they're freaking out before it even happens, but because we continue before we even get to the hearings to get new information about the depths, to which the Republican party and Donald Trump of course were willing to sync to overturn the results of that election. And we learned even more yesterday because a federal judge ordered the release of 159 documents from John Eastman who was acting as one of Donald Trump's attorneys in the lead up to the events of January 6th.
And in these new emails, the judge, once again says, I believe I see a crime. Now, let me read this. This is from raw story Carter. The judge identified a single email from December 22nd, 2020 from an unidentified attorney as evidence of a potential crime, uh, from the judge's ruling because the attorney concluded that a negative court ruling would quote tank the January 6th strategy end. He encouraged the legal team to avoid the courts. This email submitted the direction of the January 6th plan. The Trump legal team chose not to seek recourse in court. Instead they forged ahead with a political campaign to disrupt the electoral count. Lawyers are free not to bring cases. They are not free to evade a ju a judicial review to overturn a democratic election. Accordingly this portion of the email is subject to the crime fraud exception, and must be disclosed. That was from the judge's ruling as reported by raw story. So more documents, more material for the January 6th committee. And again, this happened the day before the televised hearings were scheduled to begin. So things are looking bad for Trump. Things are looking bad for John Eastman, too. Eastman continues to lose in court. And this is now the second time that a judge has looked at these documents and said, holy hell, pretty sure there's a crime that was committed here.
And those are just the things that we know about. I mean, again, like I said, this is something we've only known for 24 hours. Imagine what that committee is sitting on. Imagine that Eastman emails and materials that they've gone through, that haven't been revealed to the public yet, which is by the way, the vast majority of everything they have. Yes, we have a lot of the mark Meadow's text messages
That have been revealed. There's a lot of 'em that haven't and we're going to find all of that out. They have multiple different prime time televised hearing scheduled, other televised hearings also scheduled. They're not all gonna be in prime time. Although I do think they all should be. Republicans are running scared. Donald Trump is scared. And I think, honestly, that is why Donald Trump, uh, his people have been kind of spreading the news that, oh, he may be making a presidential announcement soon, whatever they can do to distract the public from all of these leaks that are happening again, before we even get to the hearings, we're gonna find out so much, it's gonna be so bad for the Republicans. And that is of course why they're freaking out right now. Cause if we look at what we do know what has been leaked, what has been revealed. And we take into account how bad that is. Just imagine how bad the stuff is that we won't know about till later tonight,
