Donald Trump is expected to make an announcement about his 2024 intentions shortly after the midterms, and those closest to both Trump and Florida Governor Ron DeSantis say that a Trump run will prevent DeSantis from jumping in because he is afraid of Trump. This isn't very surprising, as Trump would absolutely devastate DeSantis in debates (as would many other Republicans) but waiting could be just as dangerous for DeSantis, as Farron Cousins explains.

A recent report from Vanity Fair where they spoke with four Republicans, including advisors to uh, some prominent politicians. All of these individuals said the same thing. If Donald Trump runs for president in 2024, Ron DeSantis will not, because as they say, Ron DeSantis is scared to run against Donald Trump. He doesn't wanna Trump off. That's a big part of it. But secondly, he understands that Donald Trump would just clubber him. He'd clobber him in the debates, he'd clubber him in the primaries. There is no chance of Ron DeSantis beating Donald Trump. So if Trump does what all the reports are saying he's gonna do and announce that he is running in 2024 within, eh, probably the next week or two, then DeSantis will not. Now, here's the problem for DeSantis. And according to these people, um, who spoke to Vanity Fair, uh, one of them said, DeSantis can walk into the presidency in 2028 without off Trump or Florida. And by the way, a former advisor for Trump said the two hate each other, but DeSantis could just run again in 2028, right? No problem. He'll walk right into the White House. They say, Really? You think that's gonna happen? Let me explain to you, and I've I've I've talked about this for over a year now, it's worth repeating. DeSantis if he doesn't run in 2024, is going to miss his window.

Because if he runs in 2028, what else happens in 2028? Well, for starters, he will have been out of office and therefore out of the spotlight for two years, two years, two years is an eternity in politics. And if you're not out there making the news every day, if you're not out there being the guy passing the legislation to off, uh, liberals for two years, people will forget you. They will forget you. And I know a lot of people are watching the city, like, I don't think they'll do that. Folks, I've been doing this for 20 years. I've seen it happen. I have seen Republican politicians pop and disappear. Talked about one earlier this morning, Dan Crenshaw, Dan Crenshaw. We haven't talked about him in a year until this morning. And he was a rising star. We thought he was gonna be the 2024 nominee, how quickly they fall from Grace. And he didn't even have to leave office to fall from Grace. Bobby Gen, remember former governor of Louisiana? He was the go rising star. He got to give the rebuttal to one of Obama's State of the Union addresses. They thought, Yeah, Bobby Gle, that's our guy. Where's

He? Where's he now, Marco Rubio was once the guy, we have seen the guy or the girl come and go every year with the Republican party. So being out of that spotlight for two years for Ron DeSantis cannot be an option for him. People will forget, there'll be another rising star in that meantime, there'll be several and DeSantis will have fallen outta favor. Not to mention, I don't think even if he runs in 2024 or if he runs in 2028, even if he stays in the spotlight by getting a gig on Fox News or starting his own podcast, doing the speaking circuit, whatever it is, I don't think DeSantis has what it takes to actually win a national office. His entire agenda is built on hate and bigotry. And yes, republicans love that, but only Republicans love that only a third of the country. And you're not gonna win an election by only attracting the most extreme parts of your base.

Not to mention the fact that we saw recently a confirmation of what I've been telling you for a year in his debate with Charlie Christ, Ron DeSantis sucks at debating. So you put him up on a debate stage with 10 other Republicans around him, they're going to gang up on him and feast on him like Piran is on a duck carcass. He will be gone before he even makes it to voting. So he'll never make it that that is my firm belief. Ron DeSantis will never be president of the United States, but if he waits, he's gonna do more damage to himself than he would if he ran against Trump. But if he runs against Trump, Trump will be the lead.
