During a podcast interview last week, Jimmy Kimmel admitted that he's lost viewers because of his attacks on Trump, so Trump used that as ammo against the late night host during a rally this past weekend. He could not have picked a worse target, as Kimmel proceeded to absolutely unload everything on Trump during a monologue this week. Farron Cousins explains what happened.

So during a podcast interview last week, a late night comedian and talk show host, Jimmy Kimmel, admitted that his show, you know, once he started going after Trump in, you know, 20 15 20 16, lost a lot of viewers, right? He lost all the Trump people that we're regularly watching his show. And so after he admitted that Donald Trump came out this weekend and said this about Jimmy Kimmel, he said this at a rally took time out of campaigning for his Republican friends to attack Jimmy Kimmel, because that's how powerful Kimmel is. Trump said this, I saw Jimmy Kimmel said that his show's practically dead because nobody that likes Trump will watch. And guess what that turned out to be? A majority of the people, the show is dead and so are the other ones.

Um, Kimmel didn't say the show was dead. First of all, he just said he lost the Trump people. And yes, that is reflected in the ratings, but a lot of the late night talk shows, by the way, for the last like six, seven years, including the Daily Show, have been going down in viewership like it is across the board. But they all also do take shots at Donald Trump. But Jimmy Kimmel, of course, fired back and he fired back with a fire and a fury that I haven't seen from Jimmy Kimmel, right? We talk about him all the time. He does a lot of wonderful takedowns of these Republicans, especially the Trump family. But what he did on Monday evening was absolutely obliterate Donald Trump. So he played the clip of Trump saying those things I just read, and Kimo responded with this. That's right. Our show is so dead, our show is so dead, he's going to bury it next to his ex-wife at one of his golf courses.

I'll tell you what's dead, all those endangered animals, your chinless, that's what's dead. He then talked about the fact that his show is about to hit its 20 year anniversary, and then he continued. You got kicked out after four. Okay, I'm on television. You're on the toilet at your golf club screaming at yours, and he is not wrong. Jimmy Kimmel, again, about to celebrate his 20 year anniversary with Jimmy Kimmel live. That's pretty astounding, especially for a late night talk show host that's kind of, you know, the, the 10 year before they move on there. But Kimmel's done it. Meanwhile, Trump got to play president for four years, lost the popular vote twice, and got booted out impeached twice. He's a failure. He's a loser. He is a pathetic, has been crappy businessman. And that, of course, is what Jimmy Kimmel is pointing out to his audience, which by the way, is still over one and a half million people on average per night. I wouldn't call that dead, right? Getting one and a half million viewers averaging every night. I, I'd love to have that kind

Of traffic. I'd love for my channel to be that dead to only have one and a half million people. And sure, five, six years ago it was 2.2 million. I, I looked it up. But Colbert, Seth Meyers, the Daily Show, all of them have seen all of their traffic go down. You know, late night talk shows just aren't the draw that they used to be. We have lots more options now, which of course is a large part of it. So it's not that everybody loves Trump, as Trump said. So nobody loves Jimmy Kimmel. No, It's just that there's other options. There's streaming. Now, you, you don't have to stay up late to watch these shows. You can put on your favorite show of all time because you can access it easily. Now. You don't have to try to catch a rerun when it comes on tv and people are choosing comfort over something new. That's just the way we are. But let's address Trump's comments a little bit deeper, right? I think Kimmel did a great job, so let's build on that. How about the fact that Trump still thinks a majority, That's a majority of people who live me. Dude, you've, you've never had an approval rating over 50%, not once, like, not throughout your entire administration. Did you ever hit a 50% approval rating.

The majority of the country, according to the latest polls, once you arrested, they want you banned from holding public office. Again, according to the polls, most people hate you. You don't even have a hundred percent re uh, support in the Republican party.
