Republicans Are Now Praying That Trump Gets Indicted

According to reports, Republicans are now actually hoping that Donald Trump gets indicted by the DOJ so that he can be taken out of the race and they won't have to support him. This is obviously the coward's way out for the GOP, but it may be the only way that they can encourage people to move on from the twice-impeached former President. According to a new report from The Daily Beast, some Republicans out there apparently think that maybe it's best for the party if Donald Trump does get indicted. And here's the fun part, According to the story, they don't even care what he gets indicted for. Like they don't care which one it is. Just at least one of these investigations needs to take this man down, whether it's the Manhattan investigation that is still technically ongoing. Maybe it's the fake elector scheme, maybe it's the document case. Maybe it's the special grand jury over in Georgia. They don't care which one, they just want one of them to take Donald Trump out of the 2024 presidential race. And here's what's interesting to me, right? Okay. The Daily Beast runs with this story. And honestly, I don't doubt it, but what does kind of throw up a little bit of a red flag for me is the fact that this is only speculation.

They did speak to several conservative lawyers, and here is what some of them had to say. According to retired federal prosecutor, Thomas Bayer, he thinks that if he is running for president, this will cause prosecutors to drop their cases or think twice because it would be interpreted as political a reaction to his running. The answer is no, they will not hold back. Now, that of course, is one of Donald Trump's reasons for wanting to announce he's running for president today. Like, Hey, I'm gonna stop the investigations. Conservatives are like, That ain't gonna happen. And if it does, uh, well, if they do try to go after you, we're probably not gonna be there to protect you. Another one. Oh, oh, here. Here's one. This is great. I do think Trump believes he can avoid prosecution by running for president and causing delays. That's another Trump strategy delay and run off the clock. But many Republicans simply have a selfish and practical interest in seeing Trump prosecuted and convicted for anything really. They want him out of their way for their ambition or because he is clearly dragging the party down with bad candidates. So there's your two possibilities. They either want 'em to get indicted because they themselves wanna run for president. They don't wanna challenge Trump, but hey, if the guy's in jail, right? You know, it's pretty easy to be like, Hey, you're kind of incarcerated, so I'm just gonna go ahead and run in your place. I hope that's okay. Or two, it's people who don't wanna run for president, but do wanna see a Republican win who are like doj, could you please just lock his up so we don't have to deal with him? Thanks guys. Lawmakers who are, who are hoping that this happens. So I guess take it with a grain of salt, but with that grain of salt, obviously there could be some truth to this because if you think about it, it does make sense, right? Republicans saw last week that Donald Trump, that his ideology to a degree were rejected by most people in this country. Not all of them. There's still enough out there. We had more than 200 election deniers win their elections, okay? Trumpism Madism, this new weird Republican party, it is not dead at all. It's still out there, it's still alive, it's still viable, but Trump himself might be the toxic part of it. So if you remove the toxicity, then suddenly the rest of it doesn't seem all that bad anymore to your average voter. I know to you and me, it's terrible. We get it.
