Donald Trump's lawyers were back in court last week arguing that he is immune from civil lawsuits resulting from the Capitol Riot, and one of the lawyers made a shocking claim. According to the lawyer, Trump could have called for his supporters to "burn down Congress" and he would STILL have absolute immunity. These claims are getting more and more outrageous as these lawyers scramble to defend his indefensible behavior, as Farron Cousins explains.

So last week, Donald Trump's lawyers went in front of an appeals court begging them to overturn all of the previous lower court's decisions that said that Donald Trump is not immune from the civil lawsuits. Stemming from the January 6th Capitol riot, Trump's lawyers went as far as to tell the panel of judges that even if Donald Trump asked his supporters to go quote, burn Congress down, he would still have immunity. All right? That is literally what this lawyer, uh, lawyer by the name of Jesse Banal had to say, like, Trump can go out there, tell them to burn Congress down. They could do it. And guess what? He's still immune. You can't touch him because the president of the United States apparently can do whatever the hell they want and they can convince people to do whatever the hell they want without any repercussions according to Trump's own lawyers. So let me read this. This might be the worst legal argument I've seen, and I know I've said that a dozen times this year alone, all with Trump's lawyers, but they keep getting worse. How do you find these people? I have been going to legal conferences for two decades, right? The best lawyers in the country, some of the best defense lawyers in the country too, not just plaintiff's lawyers. And, and I can't fathom how hard you actually have to look to find lawyers this bad. It gets worse. So his lawyer, after basically arguing that, Hey, you could throw him in jail instead, and we're cool with that, then says you can't sue him even if he dismantles the laws of the United States, the laws of which the lawyer is also saying prevent you from being able to sue him. Hmm. So if he dismantled all the laws, which would include the laws that say you can't sue him, you still couldn't sue him even if there were no laws. Um, listen, bud, Jesse, banal, I don't know where you went to law school, but you need to go ahead and call them and ask for a refund of your tuition because clearly it was a waste of time.
