On Monday, Marjorie Taylor Greene was under fire after calling for a "national divorce" to split The United States into two separate entities - one for liberals, and one for conservatives. Apparently, she's decided to double down on this and has now laid out her plan for exactly how this would work. This is a terrifying thought, and even more terrifying given the amount of power she appears to be gaining. Farron Cousins explains what's happening.

Marjorie Taylor Greene took a lot of heat on Monday. President's Day of all days, when she proposed her idea of a national divorce, red America, blue America, each one, I guess becoming their own separate country. She didn't really elaborate on Monday. And of course, as I said, most people were unhappy with this idea of splitting up the United States. So on Tuesday, rather than pretending that that never happened and just moving on, she not only doubled down on it, but she laid out her plan for how it would all work as if she has been thinking about this for quite a while. So she put it all on Twitter. I got the feed in front of me. I'll read you some of this. So here's how she started off, why the left and right should consider a national divorce by Marjorie Taylor. Grit. No, I'm just kidding.

She didn't add that part, why the left and right should consider a national divorce. Not a civil war, but a legal agreement to separate our ideological and political disagreements by states while maintaining our legal union. Tragically, I think we, the left and right have reached Dear reconcilable differences. Do you know all about that? Because you're currently going through a divorce. So she doesn't want a war. She wants us to all be peaceful, right? We'll, we'll handle it all on paper. Paper, not on the, uh, battlefield. And we're still gonna be a country like we're just one country. We're just gonna be broken up into what? 50 different, um, let's call 'em states. And, and each state we'll get to make their own rules about how that particular state is governed. Now, correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure that America, the United States of America is already broken up into 50 different states, each ruled by their own state government that's elected by the people that live in those states.

Now, maybe I'm wrong, you know, maybe my 40 years on this planet in this country, my political science degree and my 20 years involved in political media, maybe I'm mistaken, but I'm pretty sure that what you just laid out in your initial proposal, in your thesis is literally what we already have here in the United States. We don't need a divorce. Like we don't have to put anything on paper at this point because that's already been done. And she continues. It gets dumber. It always gets dumber. She says she's absolutely disgusted and fed up with the left cramming and forcing their ways on us. All right? You frick to, to, to just don't wanna use foul language here, but are you kidding me? I'm, I'm gonna struggle so badly to not let an F bomb out here. Are you kidding me? The left, the left is out there forcing our views on you. I'm sorry, remind me again. Which political party is out there banning books?

That's, that's not the liberals. We, we haven't banned any books. That's, that's your party because you don't like, well, books have to say that. Oh no. A penguin has two penguin daddies, which was based on a true story. I bring that story up cuz that was literally banned in my county yesterday. That book, based on a true story from a zoo, you are the ones who are banning abortion state by state because that's what you think your religion wants. And so you're imposing your religion on everybody else. You, your Republican controlled states. Some of them like Texas, literally regulate how many sex toys you can own.

I, I don't see any liberals doing that anywhere, ever. It's Republicans. And of course this is all projection and it, it me off cuz they sit there, they gaslight the whole country to make 'em think the liberals are doing this when it's them that are doing it. And it makes my job feel so stupid because I have to go out and call out these stupid things that these idiots say because people even dumber than Marjorie Taylor Greene believe what she has to say. The fact I have not had a heart attack or a stroke yet is beyond me.
