Fox's Lawyer Accidentally Implicates Trump In Dominion Defamation Lawsuit

One of the lead attorneys representing Fox News did an interview with The National Review and, perhaps on accident, pointed to the fact that Donald Trump went on the network after the 2020 election and specifically talked about Dominion in the same way that got the network sued. This raises an interesting point - why isn't Trump getting sued like everyone else? Farron Cousins attempts to answer that question.

One of Fox News's lead attorneys for the defamation lawsuit filed against them by Dominion Voting Systems. Decided for some reason to sit down with National Review writer, uh, Jim Garrity, to kind of go over what's happening with these lawsuits and of course to express Fox News's innocence. But in trying to claim that Fox News is innocent, the lawyer Paul Clement may have accidentally proved that Donald Trump is guilty and that Donald Trump should be the one being sued for defamation by Dominion. Here's what happened. Mr. Clement pointed out that a lot of the focus has been on Lou Dobbs and Rudy Giuliani and Sidney Powell, but there was a Maria Bartiromo episode on, lemme make sure I get the date right, November 29th, 2020. So after the election, Donald Trump goes on Maria Bartiromo's show, and this is what he said. You have leaders of countries that call me say that's the most messed up election we have ever seen.

You start with these machines that have been suspect, not allowed to be used in Texas, the Dominion machines where tremendous reports have been put out. We have affidavits on from many people talking about what went on with machines. They had glitches. You know what a glitch is? That's a glitch. That's supposed to be when a machine breaks down. Well, no, we had glitches where they moved thousands of votes from my account to Biden's account. So they're not glitches, they're theft, they're fraud, absolute fraud. And there were many of them, but obviously most of them, tremendous amounts got by without us catching Donald Trump. Then president of the United States on November 29th, 2020 said that live on the air, on Fox News to Maria Bartiromo. He specifically mentioned Dominion. Then went on to claim that Dominions machines flipped votes via fraud from Trump to Biden.

Now, correct me if I'm wrong, but is that not exactly what Fox News and Giuliani and Mike Lindell and Sidney Powell, isn't that literally the claim that all of those other groups are being sued for? How in the hell did Donald Trump escape any kind of liability for this? It doesn't matter that he was president of the United States at the time. That wasn't a presidential proclamation. That was defamation because we've already seen one lawsuit, the one brought by Eugene Carroll, that one ya can sue a president for defamation. You know, for what they say as president. If it's defamation, the courts have already made the determination you can do that. So it's not even like Dominion would have to fight

For a year or two to even be able to sue over that because that matter's already been decided. Now they still have time. They can add Donald Trump to this lawsuit at any point, or they could file a new lawsuit only targeting him. But that right there, let me read you what the National Review author said about this. If any statement after the election qualifies as defamation of Dominion, trumps would be it. But it's not cited in the Dominion suit likely because no one in the right mind would dispute that the fact that the sitting president was ma was making such claims was legitimate news. So they're trying to argue that the reason Dominion didn't wanna put this in there was cause if the President's saying it, obviously it's news and therefore Fox News would have to cover it. So Dominion may have to make the choice, and maybe they already did.

Either we can sue Fox News for spreading it, or Fox News is okay to say it because the president of the United States said it. In which case, we can only sue the former president of the United States. Now, I support Dominion in their lawsuits, but I gotta say if that's the choice they had to make, they chose wrong. They should have picked Donald Trump. They technically still could. I don't believe that. Oh, well we only had to talk about it cuz the president was talking about it. Hey, you were technically doing it before Donald Trump did that too. So that argument is already out the door, I just solved your problems, dominion. Sue the bastard, sue him. That's it. It's that simple. It's clear as day. I just read you what Trump said on the air, on Fox News News. Sue him before it's too late and you run out of time to sue him.
