Giuliani Hit With Lawsuit From Man He Falsely Claimed Assaulted Him

Several months ago, Rudy Giuliani claimed that a man in a Shoprite pharmacy "assaulted" him after the man patted Rudy on the back and called him a name before walking away. The charges against the man were ultimately dismissed, and the mayor of New York City had to come out at the time and remind Rudy that filing a false police report was a crime. The man in question has now filed a suit against Rudy for essentially ruining his life and is seeking millions in return. Farron Cousins explains what's happening.

Rudy Giuliani this week was hit by a, uh, with a massive lawsuit from his former employee, Noel Dunphy. Uh, and she has made some very serious allegations against Giuliani in that lawsuit. But what you may not have known is that a couple days after he got hit with that 10 million lawsuit, he got hit with another $2 million lawsuit from the man who he had arrested last year for allegedly assaulting him in a ShopRite. Now, I'm sure we all remember that story. I sat right here and talked about it. There is, uh, you know, the security camera footage that shows a ShopRite employee, Rudy Giuliani's in there talking to people. The employee walks up, says something to Giuliani, puts his hand on his back and walks away. Giuliani at the time, said that it felt like he was hit on the back as if a boulderer hit me when the video clearly just showed the man, I, I don't even think you can call it, patting him on the back, like he literally touched his back and walked away.

Uh, there's differing reports about what he said. One of 'em says he called him a scumbag. Uh, one of 'em says he called him an sh bag. Um, others say, you know, said whatever. But anyway, calling him a name and walking away is not that big of a deal. But Giuliani made it into a big deal, and he wanted this individual arrested. The individual did get arrested, spent at least one night in prison, was charged with a felony, which was then reduced to a misdemeanor, which was then completely dismissed. And now this individual who lost his job was smeared all over the media by Rudy Giuliani, who again says, I've got hit in the back with a boulder. This individual is now suing Rudy Giuliani for $2 million. And the lawsuit starts out by quoting New York Mayor Eric Adams, who had this to say after the incident occurred, someone needs to remind former Mayor Giuliani that falsely reporting a crime is a crime.

He wasn't, you know, fighting for his life, is he, you know, pretty much claimed. He says he was having trouble. Yet none of that happened, and we all saw the video. So you deserve to be hit with this lawsuit. You're lucky they're only seeking $2 million from you because they could have very well gone much, much higher with that number. And this is a lawsuit that I do not think Rudy Giuliani has any chance whatsoever of being victorious in.
