George Santos Begs Court To NOT Release Names Of People Who Posted His Bail

Republican Representative George Santos is begging a judge to NOT release the names of the people who bailed him out after his arraignment last month, with his lawyer telling the judge that Santos would rather forfeit the bail and go to jail than have the names released. This has led many to believe that Santos is hiding something serious, which is really the only excuse that actually makes sense at this point. Farron Cousins explains what's happening.

You know, with all of the recent news with Donald Trump, and of course all the horrible things that Iran DeSantis is doing, and Jim Jordan and Kari Lake, I had honest to God forgotten that Republican representative, George Santos, is under indictment right now. You know that you get caught up in the news cycle. So many things are happening that it's easy to forget that George Santos is probably gonna go to prison. But this week we of course were all reminded of George Santo's, uh, alleged criminal activity because he has not been convicted. It's all alleged. Um, when he had his lawyer in a letter to the judge overseeing his case, beg the judge to not release the names of the individuals who bailed out George Santos, cuz right now, technically by definition, George Santos is out on bail. Had the bail not been posted, he would be sitting in jail awaiting his trial. But $500,000 bond was posted by several different individuals. And Santos was begging the judge this week do not release their names to the public. In fact, the lawyer actually said in the letter, my client would rather surrender to pretrial detainment than subject these sures to what will inevitably come. So what is this inevitably coming to? Well, according to Santo's lawyer, he says that divulging their names would subject them to a media frenzy. Public ridicule, harassment, job loss, potential violence. Oh my God, these people will go through living hell because they bailed out George Santos.

And the judge took all this information and basically said, I don't care. The public needs to know because this is a public official that has been indicted. This needs to be public knowledge so that the transparency can be there so that everybody looking at this can understand that there's no malfeasance, there's nothing trick or sneaky going on behind the scenes. Therefore, the judge says, I am going to release the names of the people who posted bond for George Santos regardless of the impact it could have on them in the future. But there's a catch to this. The judge says the names can be released, however, they will not be released, of course, until George Santos exhausts the appeal process on releasing the names. So we're not gonna get the names this week. We may not get them this month, we may not get them this summer until the appeals process have has played itself out. But the big question here is why George Santos cares so much to protect these individuals. Cuz I don't buy for a second their actual excuse here of like, oh, they could lose their jobs. They could,

All these bad things could happen to 'em. Oh, woe is me. Oh dear.

Yeah, if that was the case, they probably wouldn't have done this in the first place, right? I mean, oh, I don't wanna lose my job for bailing this a-hole out. Okay, then don't bail 'em out. You as a human being, we all have to deal with the consequences of our actions. And if you don't wanna deal with the consequences of your actions, party of personal responsibility, Republicans, I'm directing this at you. If you don't wanna deal with the, uh, consequences of your actions, then don't do the actions, right? I mean, isn't that what y'all always tell us? Like, Ooh, you shouldn't have done this if you didn't want that. Okay, well, you shouldn't have bailed out George Santos. If you didn't want people to know you bailed out George Santos. Sorry, but them's the breaks. Right? You deal with it. You made the conscious decision to go to court to bail this man out.

These, uh, people who paid the bond have had meetings with the judge. Like they've gone back to court. They've already had to do lots of things with this. So why not tell us who they are? What is George Santos trying to hide? Who are these like the fact that you're actually trying to hide the names of these people is only going to make the media frenzy surrounding them when their names are finally released that much more intense. Had you just released the names literally on day one, nobody would've given a crap. They, that's the thing these Republican idiots don't understand.
