Republican Strategists Annoyed That Candidates Aren't Hitting Trump Over Indictments

Most of the Republicans running for President right now are refusing to attack Donald Trump over his indictments, and many are actually defending him. Republican strategists are scratching their heads over this move, as it only creates sympathy and makes it seem like Trump is a victim, rather than a criminal. Multiple Republican strategists recently spoke to Politico to let them know how crazy it is that Republicans are not using Donald Trump's multiple indictments against him in their campaigns against him. Now, let's be clear, we do have a handful of candidates out there, I think pretty much just Chris Christie and Asa Hutchinson. Those two of course are talking about Donald Trump being indicted in both Florida and Manhattan. But, uh, the rest of the candidates don't seem to want to talk about it, or when they do talk about it, they talk about how unfair it allegedly is and how of course they will pardon Donald Trump if they get the opportunity to. But nobody who's actually polling with real numbers is using the indictments against Donald Trump. And these Republican strategists who of course spoke on the condition of an anonymity are scratching their heads, completely befuddled as to why you're not attacking Trump for his biggest weakness.

His biggest liability, of course, is the fact that he could be in jail. And none of you idiots out there are pointing that out to the American public. Here's what one of the strategists had to say. There is a non negligible chance the nominee of our party will be charged and go to jail. Setting aside how you feel about this, we can't govern from a jail cell. I just think people are scared to make that argument. And another republican strategist who spoke to Politico said quote, it's almost like you're playing pool. You have to break at the start and nothing has broken the triangle. Trump is the eight ball in the middle, and he is not going anywhere. For now, I'm curious to see what the f people are going to do.

So it doesn't just sound like, uh, these strategists are confused. It sounds like they're actually angry that nobody or is using these attacks against Donald Trump. At least nobody that matters is using these attacks against Donald Trump. And most of them, by the way, are, as I said, defending him. But it's like, listen, I like the way the one strategist put it. Like, it doesn't matter how you feel about it. You may think that it is weaponized justice. You may think that they're only going after Trump because he is a political target. That doesn't matter. It's still a thing that happened. You need to use it against him. That's what you should be doing. But to sit there and be like, oh, it's, it's a shame what's happening and all, pardon him, the poor guy. What you're doing is creating sympathy. What you're doing is downplaying the seriousness of these charges, which is gonna lead more Republicans into thinking that it is just a weaponized DOJ going after him, which is gonna lead more people to support him and fewer people to support you. You are tanking your own campaigns because

You're not using this against Donald Trump. And here's the thing, right? This isn't just about the indictments that the guy is under down here in Florida, the federal indictments. He's under indictment in Manhattan on charges that could send him to jail. He's gonna get indicted very soon from the state of Georgia. He's going to get more federal indictments for his attempts to overturn the 2020 election. So it's gonna go from four different areas that have indicted him or or two to four. So maybe start attacking him with it now instead of waiting for it to pile up. Because then you look like, okay, well now because there's so much I can't ignore it. Why don't you get ahead of the curve, right? Why don't you go ahead and make those arguments now so that when the other indictments get handed down and we all know they're coming, you look like a prophet. You look like the person who called it correctly, and you get to go out there and be the one saying told you. So, I don't know. I'm no Republican strategist, but that seems like a pretty darn smart idea to me.
