Kevin McCarthy Panics After Realizing He's A Hostage Of The MAGA Lunatics

House Speaker Kevin McCarthy came to the sad realization this week that he is the one being held hostage by the extremist MAGA wing of the Republicans in the House. McCarthy twice tried to pass a procedural vote to prevent a government shutdown, but the lunatics refused to let it happen. A dejected McCarthy whined to the press about people just wanting to "burn it all down," but he's the one who gave them the matches. Farron Cousins explains what happened.

On Thursday, Republicans in the House of Representatives for the second time this week failed to vote on a continuing resolution that would've given us one more month to deal with budget issues before the government goes into shutdown. Kevin McCarthy, after this failed second attempt decided, screw it, everybody, go home. Enjoy your weekend. And uh, I guess we'll just try to figure this out next week, which is essentially the last week before we hit a government shutdown. And there appears to be no resolution in sight, but McCarthy didn't just send everybody home. McCarthy also got angry when he was talking with reporters about what's happening in the house, because I believe McCarthy finally came to the re realization that he is in fact being held hostage by the extremist wing of the House Republicans, mostly by people like Matt Gaetz. You see, you've got people like Matt Gaetz and a couple other Republican lunatics.

Jim Jordan, of course, is with them. Marjorie Taylor Green is with them who are refusing to budge on their blockade of these appropriations bills to avoid a government shutdown because they each want their individual little pet projects voted on some of them included in the appropriations bills. But in the case of Matt Gaetz, he just wants them voted on separately because he believes he has all the power now. And when McCarthy finally, I guess, had that light bulb go off in his head, he told reporters quote, uh, situation is frustrating in the sense that I don't understand why anybody votes against bringing the idea and having the debate. And then you got all the amendments if you don't like the bill. This is a whole new concept of individuals that just want to burn the whole place down. It doesn't work. McCarthy says, as, see, here's the thing though, Kev, you don't get to whine and cry about, they just want to burn it all down.

Guess who gave them the gasoline and the matches? Bud, that was you. You did that earlier this year. See, you have no bargaining chips against any of these individuals. You gave up that power in order to become Speaker of the House, which is why of course, we found Matt Gaetz's resolution to boot you as speaker in the house bathroom this past week, because thanks to your concessions, it only takes one member to bring it to a full house vote and you could lose your speakership. Or we could go through another round of several weeks of having to vote and vote and vote, vote again to see who the house speaker is gonna be. But you did that, like this is on you. You don't get to complain about everybody you know holding all this up. When you are the one who abdicated your power as speaker, you no longer have the authority to tell these people, shut the hell up, get in line. I'm gonna

Bring this because I'm the speaker. Because if you do that, which technically you do still have that power, then they're gonna vote you outta the speakership and then you won't have that power. And of course, we're gonna probably end up with somebody far worse than Kevin McCarthy, if you can imagine it. But this is what's happening with the Republican party. It is indeed pure chaos. These people don't know how to govern because these people don't want to govern. They don't care if they send us barreling towards a government shutdown that's going to cost us hundreds of millions of dollars a day in economic activity. They're willing to do that if we don't give in to their terrorists like demands. And Kevin McCarthy is the guy in the hostage video that can't get out. He can't do anything. And at this point, he's like, these people kind of suck, but there's literally nothing I can do about it because I told them at the beginning of the year, it's okay if you suck. It's okay if you hold me hostage because I just want that power so badly. You got nobody to blame for this situation, Kevin, except yourself.
